Miiverse is here

The Wii U and Nintendo 3DS system update is now LIVE! You can update your system by going into system settings. For us, the download took about 4 minutes to complete. This update is provides dedicated communities for both your Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. You’ll also be able to chat with other fans about your games, help other players, and converse about the challenges that your facing.

You’ll also be able to send type notes, share screenshots from compatible games, and make hand drawn illustations that you can share within the Nintendo community. To access the Miiverse, all you have to do is press  the Home key—without leaving your game. When you’re done posting, you can continue your game progress right where you left off.

This update also marks Nintendo unifying their Nintendo Network ID across both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS where users can access the same eShop accounts.

It’ll be as easy as choosing your Nintendo Network ID (ID), a unique username and password that will allow you to download free demos and other content*, post to Miiverse, and more.

Those who own both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS systems will be able to use the same ID across both devices. You’ll then be able to access the same Nintendo eShop wallet, making shopping for digital games more convenient than ever. If you create a brand-new ID for your Nintendo 3DS system or use a different ID than your Wii U one, your account balances across Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will not be combined.

Did you know you can follow GAH on FacebookTwitter and Tumblr? You didn’t? Well maybe you should.
