What a delightful surprise, as it appears that Nintendo of Japan has interests in reviving a dormant watered franchise. The new filed trademark is the Wave Race franchise and was filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). For those who remember, the Wave Race franchise made it its debut on the Nintendo’s first 64-bit system, Nintendo 64. It continuation followed Nintendo’s next generation hardware, Gamecube.

The trademark was filled on 11/17/2016 has a few noteworthy things that should be expected. Under Goods and services, it describes things such as “consumer video game appartatus” but it also mentions “additional data for consumer video game apparatus.”

It will be nice to experience a new iteration of the Wave Race franchise once again since it’s skipped the Wii and Wii U.
