UPDATE: From an anonymous source, the officers in question who visited the Roupe family are Cpl Beth Gatny and her partner Kisha Rowlands. Both of their photos were taken down from the Euharlee Police Department website. Their department number is: 770-386-7339.
A young man, Christopher Roupe, was shot and killed by a police officer because he answered his door with a handgun. Shocking enough, everyone except the Police say that he opened the door holding a Wii remote controller and suddenly shot in the chest.
According to reports, the tragic shooting last Friday night is being reviewed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Christopher Roupe, 17, was a member of the ROTC at Woodland High School and had future plans to enroll in the Marines.
According to the Euharlee police, two officers arrived at roughly 7:35 p.m at the Roupe’s family mobile home to carry out a probation violation warrant against his father when Roupe answered the door with a gun drawn. Reacting to the the possible threat, the unidentified officer reacted and shot a single police bullet, authorities said.
But according to lawyer and eyewitness who claims that he was unarmed with the expection for the Nintendo Wii Remote in hand.
The Roupe’s family’s lawyers explained that:
“We don’t know where that statement came from”, he told Atlanta’s WSB-TV. “The eyewitnesses on the scene clearly state that he had a Wii controller in his hand. He heard a knock at the door. He asked who it was, there was no response so he opened the door and upon opening the door he was immediately shot in the chest.
This is the Wii Remote Controller. It’s physical design was inspired by TV remotes, not guns.
The officer who shot the young Christipher Roupe, broke down after she realized that she had shot the teen at point-blank range, witnesses said. She has now been placed on administrative leave.
“She put her head in her hands and she was sobbing,” Ken Yates told WSBT. “Supposedly, he opened the door with a BB gun and in my opinion I think he was playing a game with his neighborhood buddies.”
Afterwards Roupe was sent to a hospital in Cartersville where he was pronounced dead. The result of the investigation will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office, police said.

I know, it’s terrible. I don’t know if it was planned and we can’t really say either way. The fact is, her actions took a life and she has to live with that for the rest of her life. But I wouldn’t be surprised if she mentally rewrote her memories to fit what was reported by the police. The human memory is weird like that.
If she gets fired, I’m sure that this will affect her future jobs and there’s nothing she can do about it. He name is all over the internet stained in blood.
people should be rioting over this, even if he had a gun in his hand, he is legally allowed to defend his home. The fact the cop opened fire as soon as the door opened meant she planned to shoot regardless of who answered the door or what they had in their hands if anything.
