Talks about a movie adaptation of “The Last of Us” has been surfing around the internet for some time. Much of its success can be credited to it’s amazing story and atmospherics world. Naughty Dog co-presidents, Evan Wells, Christophe Balestra and game director Bruce Straley, will be involved.
Previously reported, Sony was in talks with “The King of Kongs” director Seth Gordan, according to his Imdb page, though this has yet to be confirmed. It is unknown if Amy Hennig who recently left Naughty Dog after 10 years will be contributing to the film.
According to Deadline, Naughty Dog creative director, Neil Druckmann, will be writing the script. Druckmann won the Writers Guild Award in 2014 for the Last of Us. The Last of Us will be will be distributed by Sony’s own Screen Gems production company. They’ll team with Spider-Man director, Sam Raimi and his Ghost House Pictures banner though it is currently unknown.
“Since our game released last June, we’ve talked with many companies about making a film, but we couldn’t have found better partners who share our creative vision and high standards,” Wells said about Screen Gems and Ghost House Pictures.
