The familiar sounds of bone crushing blows and the iconic echo of “Finish Him!” can only mean one thing; Mortal Kombat is back.
Mortal Kombat X’s gameplay has been revealed and it takes the best of the last entry of the series and makes some welcome additions in this new title.
The demo shown at E3 included six playable characters, including returning favorites, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, and a few newcomers in the form of Cassie Cage and Kotal Kahn. The story takes place 25 years after the events of Mortal Kombat 9.
Mortal Kombat X introduces a new style of gameplay which allows characters to have three different fighting styles a player can select during character selection. Unlike past entries in the series, these styles cannot be changed on the fly, but are permanent through an entire match. These new styles can change up move sets and create an entirely different fighter that can suit a variety of players.
Mortal Kombat looks stunning and runs at a smooth 60 fps. Character models and level transitions are the best in the series. A full character list and types of finishers have not been revealed.
