Sony revealed a teaser image about the upcoming game to movie adaptation, “The Last of Us” which was teases at the San Diego Comic-Con panel.
Sony Pictures Entertainment revealed a teaser image for the film at the panel showing of a character who resembles Ellie holding a switchblade.
“It’s gonna be a great character journey, a great love story, and great horror fiction,” Raimi said.
Actress, Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the HBO’s series, Game of Thrones was mentioned as the current favorite to play Ellie.
Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog has been reported to have have the final say on the vast majority of the film’s creative decisions such as casting and choice of director. This should put many fans at ease about who the film will be handled given that most video game to movie adaptations usually fail to be as amazing as the original source that influenced it. Given that Drunckmann was the director of The Last of Us is also comforting.
Druckmann said in May that the film will be a direct adaptation of the video game, rather than being inspired by its post-apocalyptic tale.
“As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film… we’re not sure yet,” Druckmann had said. “We’re only just scratching the surface.”
It was nice to finally have confirmation that Sam Raimi will be on board instead of an unknown director.
