It seems the world can’t get enough Robin Williams and even with his passing and the sadness that it brought, his memory will live on through other means. As mentioned before, we were correct in assuming that there would be more petitions about the beloved actor and avid gamer, Robin Williams as there has been two other petitions to memorialize him.
If you weren’t aware, Williams left behind three children, Cody Alan Williams, Zachary Pym Williams, and Zelda Rae Williams. If you are a fan of The Legend of Zelda like Williams and his wife are, then you know that they named their daughter Zelda, after the princess.
Zelda and Robin Williams created many commercials promoting The Legend of Zelda and fans took notice. So it makes sense for Zelda fans to come together to memorialize the passing of Robin Williams.
The petition details about the recent work Williams and Zelda did for Nintendo and mentions that with a new “Zelda game on the horizon” and with the his recent passing that Nintendo name “one of the characters Robin in his memory.“
“It is well-known that he named his daughter after the series’ titular princess. Nintendo of America itself only recently hired him and his daughter to promote the franchise in a series of ads… [There’s] a new Zelda game on the horizon. A bold reinvention, a fresh new open world adventure for Wii U. I would like to suggest that when the game is [localized] to English, Nintendo of America and the Treehouse name one of the characters “Robin” in his memory.
He won’t get to play it, but he’ll live on forever in a universe he always loved”
The Legend of Zelda has sold millions through its lifetime and has cemented itself as one of gaming’s strongest and more enduring video game franchise since its creation in 1986. It an iconic franchise much like Robin Williams that resonates multiple generations.
If you hurry you can still sign the petition.
