Destiny beta progress won’t transfer to the final version

If you were hoping to carry your character progress from the Destiny beta, you will find this news disconcerting as all your progress “will be wiped.

Many gamers, ourselves included, were hoping that Bungie would allow players to transfer the committed progress they’d put into the beta and continue it into the final version when it releases this September. Sadly, that hope was shattered when Bungie designer, Tyson Green explained in an official blog post:

“Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.”

This is understandably disappointing, especially those put countless hours into their beta characters but like most betas, things change as the development continues. It would of been nice of Bungie to have explained ahead of time that players beta progress wouldn’t be transferable to the final version but they didn’t. Nice as it would of been, it would of been a huge undertaking when you consider it.

Follow your Destiny and don’t forget your Bungie
